Ever wondered how much weight you can actually stack onto your CK Maceworks mace?
We get this question a lot—especially from athletes chasing heavy swings or looking to push their grip and rotational strength to the next level. So, we decided to run a simple test using 10-pound plates and each of our three loading pin options: Standard, Extended, and XL.
Spoiler alert: these pins can handle more than you’ll probably ever swing.
🎥 Watch the Full Max Load Test
In this quick demo, Nate loads each of the three pins to full capacity—so you can see exactly how much each one holds and how it performs under real world conditions.
👇 Check it out in this video before we break it down below:
🏋️ The Setup
For this test, we used:
-
Standard 1” hole 10-pound plates
-
A digital scale
-
Our 42” Cadi handle (to simulate a real-world swing setup)
-
All three CK Maceworks loading pins
Then we did what any curious lifter would do: stacked them up to the limit and weighed each setup.
⚙️ Max Weight by Loading Pin
XL Loading Pin (10")
-
Plates: 11 x 10lb
-
Total Weight: ~122 lbs
-
Thread Clearance: Solid. No issues swinging this beast.
Extended Loading Pin (8")
-
Plates: 9 x 10lb
-
Total Weight: ~101 lbs
-
Thread Clearance: Still safe to swing.
Standard Loading Pin (6")
-
Plates (maxed): 7 x 10lb
-
Total Weight: ~80 lbs
-
BUT… only ~½” of thread left. Not ideal for safety. Minus one plate would be better.
⚠️ Important Notes
We’ve never personally seen anyone swing a mace loaded up to the absolute max capacity of these pins. That doesn’t mean you can’t—but it does mean you’ve got plenty of room to grow.
In fact, many people who start with a standard pin end up coming back to upgrade. As you get stronger and more confident with your swings, you’ll want more weight. It happens all the time.
So if you’re debating which pin to grab, keep this in mind:
💡 Go big early, and you won’t outgrow it.
💥 How Heavy Should You Swing?
There’s no prize for maxing out your mace every session. The goal is to swing with control, intention, and clean mechanics. But if you’re ready to challenge your grip, wrists, and shoulders—you now know what’s possible.
CK Maceworks loading pins are built for progression. Whether you're starting light or swinging triple digits, we’ve got a pin that can grow with you.
Just remember: swing heavy… and swing smart!
