What to Expect When Your CK Maceworks Order Arrives

What to Expect When Your CK Maceworks Order Arrives

If you just ordered a mace or club… or you’ve been thinking about it…

You’re probably wondering what actually shows up at your door—and how to get going once it does.

This breaks it down so there’s no guesswork.

What Shows Up

Your package is going to be a long rectangular box.

When you open it, everything inside is wrapped heavily—multiple layers of bubble wrap, taped up tight.

That’s intentional.

Shipping carriers aren’t always gentle, and these are solid steel tools. We wrap everything individually so it shows up exactly how it left here… no dings, no issues.

Once you unwrap it, you’ll have:

  • Your mace or club handle (or both if you ordered a combo)
  • Your loading pin (already threaded into the handle)

The Loading Pin (Don’t Miss This)

If you ordered a loading pin, it’s already screwed into the handle when you open the box.

You’ll need to take it out first.

Just unscrew it—it may take a few seconds depending on the length (6”, 8”, or 10”), but it should feel smooth the whole way.

Once it’s out, you’ve got two pieces:

  • The handle (knurling, pommel, all set)
  • The loading pin (this is where your plates go)

Every pin fits every handle.

Why This Setup Matters

This is the whole point of adjustable training.

Most people start with fixed weight maces and end up buying:
7 lb… 10 lb… 15 lb… 20 lb…

It adds up fast.

With this setup, you don’t need any of that.

One handle. One pin. Load it however you want.

  • Empty or super light → warmups, technique, flow
  • Moderate → volume work
  • Heavy → strength work

It grows with you.

Plates — What You Actually Need

You’ll need your own plates.

We recommend:

1-inch standard plates only

That’s what the pin is built for.

Why not Olympic plates?

  • Too big in diameter
  • Gets awkward fast
  • More likely to hit your body during swings

Best options:

  • 2.5 lb plates
  • 5 lb plates

They keep everything compact, controlled, and easy to progress.

How to Load It (Simple, But Important)

This part is easy, but there’s one step people skip.

Start from the ground up:

  1. Put the loading pin on the ground
  2. Stack your plates on
  3. Screw the handle onto the pin

Now here’s the part that matters:

There’s a rubber washer on the pin.

That’s what locks everything in.

To secure it:

  • Press down on the plates (use your foot)
  • Tighten the handle

That compresses the washer and locks everything together.

If you skip that step, you’ll get movement and noise.

Do it right, and it’s completely solid.

Handle Length (Not Random)

Your handle length is based on your height.

That’s not just preference—it directly affects:

  • Leverage
  • Torque
  • How the swing actually feels

We use a height-to-length ratio so the tool works the way it’s supposed to.

If you already ordered, you likely followed the size chart.

If not, make sure you do. It matters.

Getting Started

Once it’s loaded and tightened, you’re ready to go.

Start lighter than you think you need.

This isn’t just about strength—it’s coordination, timing, and tissue adaptation.

Build up as:

  • Your control improves
  • Your shoulders and elbows adapt
  • Your movement gets cleaner

That’s how you actually get the benefit out of this.

That’s It

Open the box
Unwrap it
Set it up
Start swinging

If you’ve been waiting on your order, this should get you moving right away.

If you’re still deciding, now you know exactly what you’re getting into.
