Where It Started: A Pipe, a Bolt, and an Idea

A few years back, I was getting deep into kettlebell sport. The training was brutal—especially on my triceps. Between the endless overhead lifting and the volume, they were constantly tight and knotted up.

A fellow lifter suggested I try mace swinging as a way to open things up and build shoulder mobility.
So I looked into it, decided to give it a shot… and built my first mace.

The “prototype” was nothing fancy:

  • A light wall ¾" pipe for the handle

  • A 1" bolt welded to the end

  • A flat washer at the base to hold plates in place

It was crude, but it worked—and it sparked an idea.

The First Cadi

Next came the first official Cadi, which still used an external loading pin.

  • I drilled the pin and secured it with roll pins so it couldn’t come out

  • Added knurling for a better grip

  • Welded on oversized pommels at the base

That design stuck around for a couple of years. It was functional, tough, and a big step up from the original pipe‑and‑bolt build. But I knew we could do better.

The Breakthrough: Internal Threading

For years, we wanted to switch to an internal thread design—something sleeker, more secure, and easier to use. I avoided it at first, thinking it would be too difficult to keep everything straight and functional. But eventually, I had to try.

Once we cracked the code, there was no going back.

  • A larger, more comfortable handle diameter

  • Fully internal threads for smoother loading

  • A better overall swing feel and balance

This final form is the Cadi you know today—a durable, American made steel mace designed to grow with you, one plate at a time.

The Cadi started as a garage experiment. Now it’s one of the most versatile, comfortable, and dependable maces out there. Whether you’re chasing strength, mobility, or endurance, it’s built to take a beating—and help you swing better every time.
